Biography

Day in and day out, bands from all around are striving for the music industry to take notice of them. Not every day does a band come along that has the professionalism and determination like no other. Female fronted hard rock/pop trio, VARNA is that band.

Formed in Los Angeles in early 2010 as Living Eulogy, current band members consist of Tiana Woods (vocals), Eddie Haddad (guitar) and Sean Moriarty (drums). With a variety of influences from Mariah Carey to Metallica, they came together after the initial departure of original members, Rossen Pinkas and Rob Shin.

Their band name was taken from the street that their rehearsal studio was located on. They would take refuge there after working full time at their mundane day jobs. "VARNA symbolizes to us, the place and time where you get to live out your dreams.”

Their debut release of late 2013, ‘This Time, It’s Personal’ EP with rock producer Erik Ron (Panic at the Disco, Saosin, New Years Day) included songs “Down”, “My Heart” and “Running Away". A mix of commercial pop vocals accompanied by hard rock guitars, their songs emotional lyrics deal with the ups and downs of life, making sure that the end result is always uplifting. Within 2 weeks of releasing their first single, 'Down', VARNA had been added to Internet radio stations all across the US and the UK, charting in the company of major artists including Linkin Park and Three Days Grace.

VARNA are a 100% “do-it yourself” independent band who are known for their close relationship with their fanbase. "Our fans are everything to us." says Tiana, "We treat our fans like they are the ROCKSTARS."

They received international acclaim through press reviews and interviews reaching countries such as England, Ireland, Bulgaria, Australia, Latin America and The Philippines as well as state side. After a successful residency at The Good Hurt, their energetic live shows have brought them to various iconic LA venues which include The Viper Room and House of Blues.

2014 proved to be an even bigger year for Varna. With their debut video for 'My Heart' premiering on RevolverMag.com, a 'Success Story' from Musician's Institute, a clean sweep feature on Los Angeles' KLOS FM 'Stay or Go' with Heidi & Frank plus multiple media press, it lead to a sponsorship deal with ColdCock Whiskey and their loyal fan base (#VARNAFAMILY) securing a spot for them on VANS Warped Tour.

During 2015, the 'trio of rock' have had a change in the line up and teamed up with JOURNEY'S, to premiere 'My Heart' nationwide to over 600 stores while the following year they secured nominations at the Los Angeles Music Awards (Rock Artist of the Year), North American Independent Rock Awards (NAIRMA, Female Fronted Group and People's Choice) and Barebones Entertainment Awards (Female Vocalist of the Year).

They took home the coveted fan voted 'People's Choice' at the 2016 NAIRMA's which lead to opening for platinum rockers, Drowning Pool on their HALLELUJAH Tour. They released their first single of the new year, 'Living A Lie' to mainstream active rock radio all across the US, which gave them the honor of being the only female fronted unsigned, independent band to reach Top 40 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Indicator Charts. They did it again with their second single, "Survival of the Fittest", reaching #34 in the company of major label bands such as Green Day, Blink 182 and Otep--all of this with no manager, no booking agent or record deal. To top off the year, they received a nomination for 'Best Hard Rock Song' for 'Living A Lie' at the 2016 Independent Music Awards in New York City. This new year has lead the trio opening as direct support for hard rockers Stitched Up Heart and Adelita's Way on their headlining tours, while working on new material.

Determined on making a name for themselves by taking on as many opportunities that come their way, with passion and a plan, they will exceed past the borders of their home town.

VARNA is set to be their legacy.
